You Can Now Pre-Register for ‘HQ’ on Android

The question is not, “When is HQ coming to Android?” That’s a given. Considering how popular the daily trivia app is nowadays—pulling in hundreds of thousands of users for just one 12-question matchup—co-founders Rus Yusupov and Colin Kroll would be foolish not to branch out beyond iOS.

What we’re more concerned about is two things, both related: How many more users will an Android HQ be able to pull in, and what will this do for the quality of the trivia experience? And we’re not just talking about the occasional bits of lag or completely botched games that sometimes happen as a result of the sheer mass of players competing simultaneously. We’re talking about the money. Unless HQ starts dropping its player-killing “savage questions” every single round, doubling (or tripling) the number of people in the game means it’ll be that much trickier to score a huge payout, like last night’s $12,000 prize that two players shared.

As numerous reports have indicated, HQ is currently shopping around Silicon Valleyfor venture capital funding, so it stands to reason that the company is looking to fill the app with as many daily active users as it possibly can—an easy feat for now, though we’ll be curious how long the HQ craze might continue.
